During high Texas summer temperatures, OurCalling operates as a Cooling Center for our guests, staying open until 8 PM whenever the heat index is over 105º. On these days, we will not be giving out resources as usual after our normal business hours, but will focus on serving dinner and keeping people out of the extreme heat. We're inviting a small number of volunteers to help us create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for anyone seeking relief and a cool place to rest.
- 2:30PM - 5:30 PM - Prep the meal.
- 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM - Serve the meal, clean, and reset the building for the next day.
IMPORTANT:
- Please be flexible with the Staff as the need might change.
- This opportunity is weather-dependent and is subject to change. There may be downtime during your shift, depending on the number of guests.
- You must be at least 18 years old.Orientation is required.
- Dress Code: Please dress appropriately to serve in long pants, a t-shirt, and closed-toed shoes. Leggings are not allowed.
- Check-in: Stop at the volunteer check-in station to check in under the opportunity you are signed up for. Please put on your name tag and put personal belongings in a locker.
