OurCalling's Street Outreach Volunteer Application
OurCalling's work extends beyond our Outreach Center through our Street Outreach Team. They meet people where they are in Dallas County—on the streets, in the woods, and in alleys—building relationships and creating pathways for people to get off the streets.
Individuals, ages 18+, are welcome to apply to serve on our Street Outreach Team. The steps to apply are as follows:
- Create a Volunteer Account
- Complete New Volunteer Orientation
- Apply to be a Street Outreach Volunteer
Prepare to answer the following questions in your application:
- Do you have any history of homelessness?
- If yes, please explain.
- Do you have any history of substance abuse?
- If yes, please explain.
- Do you have any criminal history?
- If yes, please explain.
- Have you ever worked with individuals experiencing homelessness before?
- If yes, please explain.
- Have you ever done street outreach, on your own or with another organization?
- Please share your testimony.
- When are you able to start?
- What days are you available from 9 AM to 1 PM?
- Are you available from 9 AM to 1 PM?
- Why are you interested in serving with OurCalling's Street Outreach Team?
- Were you referred by an OurCalling Staff Member?
- If yes, please provide their name and your relationship to them.
Once you have submitted your application:
- A member of the Volunteer Team will reach out to you directly to schedule a time to shadow the Street Outreach Team.
- Based on shadowing, the Street Outreach Team will determine whether you are approved to continue serving with the team.
- Please note that not all volunteers will be approved to serve with our Street Outreach Team. Due to the nature of their work and the environment they operate in, only volunteers who respect the rules, sign the volunteer agreement, and align with the team will be accepted to continue volunteering in this manner.
